MDCT (Medicaid Data Collection) - Data Collection Tooling

MDCT (Medicaid Data Collection) is a suite of applications that allows CMS to collect data related to the administration of Medicaid and CHIP (the Children's Health Insurance Program) frim states and territories. The apps make data entry quick and easy for users, and the over system makes processing, understanding and sharing that data easy for administratrors. MDCT is made up of 5 applications. As a software developer on this team I helped plan, implement and test production-ready features for 3 of these applications. Healthcare and government terminology was intensely studied and needed to comprehend the business logic of these applications. Using the service design model, the design, research, product and software teams worked closely together with the client to digitalize and simplify tedious legacy processes.

Key Results

1. Implemented WCAG and Section 508 compliant accessibility features to the codebase.
2. Cleaned up HTML hierarchy and attributes improving screen reader readability.
3. Built a AA compliant PDF generation feature for obtaining copies of collection data.
4. Built complex forms using React, Typescript and Zustand.
