Context Overview

Janus is an internal web application used by the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Retirement Services (RS) to manage retirement benefits for federal employees. The application provides tools for intuitive data entry and generating accessible PDF reports.

Role & Impact

• Role: Frontend Software Engineer (Individual Contributor)

• Impact:

  • Mitigated accessibility issues for Janus PDF report generation, ensuring generated PDFs were compliant with accessibility standards and usable for people with disabilities.
  • Used the USWDS design system to implement consistent styling across the application.
  • Built complex React and Typescript UI functionality, handled state management with Redux Toolkit, and wrote unit and end-to-end tests with React Testing Library and Cypress.
